NIE number / Número de Identidad de Extranjero /

Foreigner’s Identification Number. All foreigners need it for all legal or tax activities in Spain.

How can you get NIE and the documents you need:

• The Application Form, called EX 15
• Form 790 NIE, you pay the fee at the bank
• Original valid passport and a photocopy
• An original document explaining why you need the NIE number, such as Contrato de reserva, Contrato de arras, employment contract.

Need an appointment booked online, the application must be made in person to the relevant National Police Station / Policia National /.

You usually can get it in person after 5 days.

Bank Account

Required documents:

• Valid passport
• Foreigners’ Identification Number, NIE
• Proof of your residential address, which could be a utility bill or an official letter from a government agency
• For non-EU countries nationalities proof of income or last tax return

Depending on which bank, they may also ask for other documentation, such as proof of employment status or income.

Accounts are usually opened almost immediately.
